aftercare
I customize aftercare plans for each client based on their tattoo’s needs.
For most tattoos, I recommend using Tattoo Recovery Occlusive Bandages (Tegaderm/Second Skin). This type of bandage helps to keep your blood and plasma on the tattoo, promoting faster healing and making the first 3-5 days mess-free. Once the bandage is gently removed in the shower using unscented soap, let your tattoo air dry. Keep it clean and apply a light layer of unscented lotion whenever it feels dry.
For sensitive skin or larger, full-color tattoos, I may suggest using plastic wrap and ointment, or a dry healing method.
It's crucial to keep your tattoo clean by rinsing it with unscented soap both morning and night, and moisturized with a thin layer of Aquaphor or A+D Ointment for the first three days.
After that, switch to an unscented lotion like Aveeno. Always wash your hands before touching your tattoo, and NEVER pick at scabs!
Most tattoos will heal completely within two weeks. During this time, avoid submerging your tattoo in water, hot tubs, or direct sunlight to prevent infection and fading. After it's fully healed, protect your tattoo with sunscreen and continue moisturizing daily to keep it looking fresh.
Please remember: The internet is choc-full of aftercare instructions. it is also full of misinformation. If you have any concerns about your healing, please don't ask a friend just because they have a lot of tattoos. Everyones skin and healing journey is different and what worked for mark may not work for debbie.
contact me and send a well lit photo and I will assess and instruct you on how it's going.
